What is Neem?

Neem leaves come from the seeds of the Neem tree (Azadirachta Indica), which is native to India. (No wonder it is used in so many ayurvedic treatments!) A relative of mahogany, this tree is a quick-growing evergreen and they can grow nearly anywhere.

Neem has been used for medical and skin care treatments throughout history in the Ayurvedic tradition and is well-known in herbal communities all over the world to be an effective helper for many an ailment.

Neem in Medicine

Most parts of the Neem tree are used in medicine, and since it is so available and easy to grow, it’s a really sustainable option for practitioners using nature as medicine. That’s one reason why it is one of the most widely used ayurvedic ingredients.

The twigs have long been used as in India as a toothbrush and research suggests that a wash of the leaf is helpful for combatting gingivitis and keeping our mouths clean after dental work like root canals. Along with being used as a spermicide and as a remedy for vaginitis, it has been used internally for medical issues like heart disease, herpes, liver illnesses, malaria, stomach ulcers, respiratory ailments, and various viral and bacterial infections.

Neem and Skin Care

Clarifies oily skin and clogged pores. One of our favorite benefits of this powerful friend is that it helps to purify the skin. It decongests pores and leaves your skin fresh and glowing.

Promotes an even skin tone. Neem is known to create a more even skin tone and improve radiance. It has a calming effect and renews the look of beautiful skin.

Moisturizes. For those who are looking for natural solutions for their dry skin, Neem helps to moisturize and gives a softer, smoother look.
